You deserve wholehearted care.
My doula services focus on
Connection
Building a relationship based on trust and openness. Mothers need to feel safe and supported in order to surrender to birth. I love getting to know each family’s unique and sacred story.
Empowerment
Encouraging parents to listen to their intuition. Mothers know what they need and I love supporting them in their wishes.
Non-judgment
Birth is intimate, vulnerable and downright magical. I truly believe that there is not one right way to birth. Whether your birth takes place at home, in a hospital with an epidural, or an operating room — your birth matters and deserves to be supported, however it unfolds.
Education
When you have questions about your birth, I love providing clients with up to date, evidence based information. I learn so much from each client and their individual story, desires and wishes, and I love using education to help clients feel confident in their decisions.
“Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers--strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength.”
— Barbara Katz Rothman
Questions
What is a birth doula?
You deserve to be supported. A birth doula’s job is to support you throughout your pregnancy, labor and birth. During pregnancy, Taylor will build a relationship with you that focuses on readying and supporting you for childbirth and parenthood. While you are in labor, Taylor will be with you every step of the way, supporting you physically and emotionally.
My partner is worried that a doula might take their place.
Your partner deserves support, too. A good doula supports both parents during labor. Taylor will not take the place of your birth partner, but will instead support your partner in supporting you.
What are the benefits of having a doula at my birth?
You deserve to feel good about your birth experience. There is evidence showing that women who have a doula at their birth report having more positive birth experiences than women who do not. In addition, women who have continuous labor support, such as a doula, statistically have much lower rates of cesarean.
What are the benefits of having a doula if I’m planning on having an epidural?
You deserve to feel safe and comforted while you labor. Epidurals are a great resource for moms in labor, should they choose to have one! That being said, anesthesiologists are not always available right away and you might end up laboring while you wait for an epidural. Taylor will be by your side during this process. During the pushing stage of labor, it can be extremely helpful to have a guide, such as a doula, to help you figure out how to push while you have your epidural.
What’s the difference between a nurse and a doula?
You deserve physical, emotional and informational support during your birth. While a nurse will make sure you are medically safe, they will likely be in and out of your room checking on other patients. Taylor will be by your side through every contraction, empowering you, encouraging you and comforting you.
How do I book you and what is your payment plan?
You deserve wholehearted care — and I would be honored to provide that for you. To book my services, head to my contact page and let’s talk over the phone! Here we will see if we are a good fit for one another — there is no fee for this call or pressure to book.
